My daughter and her husband were just here with the best news ever. She is pregnant. I am so excited! They have been married for six years and did not want to start a family right away. She is in her 9Th week and in three more weeks she will get an ultra sound. They have nothing for a baby. They do have a big house with three bedrooms. One will be the perfect nursery room. I will have a huge shower for her. I need to get out some baby shower invitations out to our family and friends. I saw some really cute cards that had Noah’s Ark on the front. I also think Winnie the Pooh would be fun. Its so fun to have different games to play and door prizes for those who win. One game has to do with diaper pins and one is where you have a contest of who can diaper a doll the fastest. It is going to be great to be a Grandma!

I enjoy sewing so much but get so little time to spend with my beloved Brother LB6800PRW that when I do find the time I have to plan carefully what I want to achieve. I could easily sit down in front of my machine early on a Saturday morning and not notice the passing of time until late Sunday evening if my husband and kids would let me, but they do insist on asking to be fed over the weekends! If only they could look after themselves I would able to spend time on making my things. I know that sounds so selfish and I don’t mean it really but just every so often I would really like to have more than an hour to be able to sit uninterrupted at my sewing machine, when I do get that time you can guarantee that I love every second of it.

A mitered corner is a corner on the binding of the quilt that is an even forty five degree angle. There is a forty five degree angle where the bindings meet right at the corner of the quilt.

Layering

This is when you have your quilt top, backing piece, and batting all ready to be assembled. You layer these three layers, by placing them in the same order and way you want them to be when the quilt making is done. Put the backing piece on the floor with the right side facing the floor.

Then lay your batting on top of the backing evenly. Then lay your quilt top on top of the batting evenly and centered with the right side facing you, the top. Like I’ve said before, the batting and the backing piece should be bigger on all sides of the quilt top as you lay it on top of these two layers.
